In addition to reading the portions of Scripture that address your specific needs and interests, you are encouraged to following the reading plan developed by Robert Murray M'Cheyne, a 19th century pastor. This plan features four passages per day. M'Cheyne intended the first two passages to be read by a family together and the other two to be read privately the same day, though of course you can use the readings however you prefer. Using the full plan, you will read through the New Testament and Psalms twice in a year and the Old Testament once. However, if you complete just the first two passages each day in odd-numbered years and the other two in even-numbered years, you will read the entire New Testament and the Psalms each year, and you will work your way through the Old Testament over the course of two years.
